We’re no Korea, but e-sports in Calgary, Canada are quickly rising in popularity, thanks to a number of dedicated promoters and gamers.

For some time now, Calgary has been home to a few video game clubs, popular LAN hangouts and Geeks in general. They keep us in business. Recently though, competitive gaming is becoming more and more popular in this city, especially in Street Fighter IV and Starcraft II.

Every once and a while, however, a developer will toss something new into their game, which will change the genre forever, create an entirely new type of video game or survive as a solid idea that’s implemented in other games as well.
I present to you a few ideas that I would liked to have seen reach into other games.

The sidekick. Sidekicks have made their way into every form of media. They’re usually a nice balance to a serious, moody hero. They balance out the equation, offer comic relief and support the hero in his or her hour of need.

Not everyone will agree with the list or its order – even some of the staff – but we took into account how much a character resembles the traditional ninja, how recognizable or iconic they are in their role, and what kind of crazy shit they’ve had to use their ninja skills to get out of in their video game careers.

A well put together game, with a fun selection of bosses and some great fan service. But it’s not without it’s faults.
